June is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, with the 28th marking the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots – a turning point in the movement towards LGBTQIA+ rights.
Our LGBTQIA+ Pride project can serve as a scheme of work (we’d suggest doing it in the final half-term, as this ties in neatly with Pride Season, but would fit elsewhere in the academic year). After the initial input lesson, exploring Pride, LGBTQIA+ inequalities, the historical context around the Stonewall Riots and the first ever Pride march, the project is student-led. Students can choose from a ‘menu’ style range of activities, using skills from across the curriculum, before presenting to one another.
